CAMEO IS AN ONGOING SERIES FEATURING CANADIAN JEWELLERY ARTISTS. HERE, THEY SHARE THEIR LATEST THOUGHTS AND INSIGHTS, AND GIVE US A PEEK INTO THEIR PRACTICE.
I am exploring the inner marriage of architecture and jewellery by representing the characteristics of the architectural styles and using precious metal transformational qualities.
Describe your current work/practice in one sentence.
Fluidity of forms
Variation not repetition
What are three things/ideas that inspire you?
What other things do you do besides your jewellery practice?
I used to work as a full-time architectural designer until three years ago before pursuing my passion for jewellery design and fabrication, so form finding and exploring cities and architecture is always a part of me. I also enjoy playing some tunes on my upright bass.
It is hard to say. I thrive in my pieces, and before the completion of each piece, I am thinking of developing them as a collection and taking them to the next stage. The Parametric Gold Fish in 18k yellow gold and tsavorite garnet is one of my favourites in my Parametricism collection, which embodies a transformation in the form of a slow variation in modulation.
What is a favourite piece that you’ve made and why?
Versatile and diverse
What word pops into your mind when you think of Canadian art jewellery?
I have recently finished my three-year Jewellery Arts program at George Brown College and have been accepted as Artist-in-Residence at Harbourfront Centre, which is an exciting journey. Now I need to focus on finding galleries and stores to represent my creations.
What is coming up next for you?
