On Thursday, November 21st, 2019, MetalAid hosted a panel discussion, digital exhibition, and reception at the Consulate General of Canada in New York City, as a part of New York City Jewelry Week.

The panel discussion, moderated by artist and podcaster Sarah Rachel Brown of Perceived Value, featured MetalAid team member and co-founder Marie-Eve G. CastonguayCo-Adorn Art Jewellery Society co-founder and co-chair Chantel GushueVancouver Metal Arts Association former president Louise Perrone, and gallerist and curator Noel Guyomarc'h of Galerie Noel Guyomarc'h.

The speakers discussed the importance of community initiatives in the field of Canadian contemporary jewellery, and the support systems that artists can benefit from outside of major educational institutions. They shared their challenges and successes, and how they support each other and work together to further the discipline on a national and international scale.

Noel Guyomarc'h, who runs the foremost art jewellery gallery in Canada and leads the artistic development workshops Le Labo, brought his own point of view to the discussion, as he plays a crucial role in diffusing the work of professional Canadian artists around the world.

The MetalAid team members Marie-Eve G. Castonguay, Alex Kinsley Vey, Pasha Moezzi, Emma Piirtoniemi, and Patrycja Zwierzynska have juried the digital exhibition portion of this project.
